John Egan: Assurant, Inc.

Assurant, Inc. (NYSE: AIZ), a provider of specialty insurance and insurance-related products and services, has named John Egan, 44, vice president, investor relations effective September 8, 2006.

Currently, Mr. Egan serves as vice president, administration, Assurant Asset Management where he is responsible for tracking and evaluating insurance portfolio performance through critical financial analysis of
sector, quality, duration and security levels. He also serves as the
company’s liaison with custodian banks, brokers and external audit
managers.

In his new role, Mr. Egan will work closely with Melissa Kivett, Assurant’s senior vice president of investor relations, in managing Assurant’s communications with shareholders and the financial community.

“We are very pleased to welcome John to our investor relations team,” said Ms. Kivett. “His financial knowledge and analytical experience combined with his 11 years with the company make him uniquely qualified to effectively communicate with shareholders about Assurant’s operational and financial performance, our diversified specialty insurance strategy and focus on long-term profitable growth.”

A resident of Rockville Centre, New York, Mr. Egan joined Assurant in
1995 as manager of administration. Prior to joining Assurant he held
management positions in accounting at Irving Trust/Bank of New York and
Deloitte and Touche. He holds a bachelor of science in accounting from
Manhattan College and a masters degree in finance from St. John’s
University.

Assurant, a Fortune 500 company, has more than $20 billion in assets
and $7 billion in annual revenue.
