ISS, Proxy-Vote Adviser, May Sell for $500 Million
Companies that may submit bids by today’s deadline include RiskMetrics Group Inc., a provider of risk-management tools to financial companies, said two people, who declined to be named because the sale is private. ISS is owned by investors including Warburg Pincus LLC, a New York-based leveraged-buyout firm.

Diller Takes the Prize for Paid the Most
Mr. Diller’s salary at IAC/Interactive last year was a relatively modest $726,115. But his package totaled $295 million in 2005, almost all from stock options, making him by far the highest-paid executive among 1,400 companies studied by the Corporate Library, a research firm that studies corporate boards and chief executives.

It said it cost $4 million in the third quarter to make whole customers whose accounts had been hacked.Harder hit was rival E*Trade Financial Corp., which last week said its fraud losses ballooned by $18 million in the third quarter from swindlers who stole clients’ identities and manipulated their accounts.

The Rise of Flash Video, Part 2
We’ve all seen videos that stop and start, take forever to play, or look pixelated. There’s a lot of crappy video out there, so it should be clear that merely waving Flash at the video problem like a magic wand isn’t enough. To be successful with Flash video, you need to understand both the technology and the user who will be viewing it.

Web Browser Faceoff
The last few weeks have been packed with browser action and the two market leaders, Internet Explorer and Firefox, have launched major new versions. So to round out our recent browser coverage, we present the Web Browser Faceoff - looking at how all the main browsers compare with each other in terms of features and innovation. We are basically looking for what is unique, interesting - and missing - in each browser.
