Confessions of an Earnings Call Operator

By Dominic Jones

IT was the day before Thanksgiving in the United States and pretty much all of the investor relations world was slowing to a crawl.

It’s at times like this when it really sucks to be an unappreciated worker at an investor relations vendor that serves companies outside of the US.

Like Annie, who a few minutes ago, posted this note to her blog:

so bored
I am sitting at work and it is so boring…Apparently no one holds conference calls the day before Thanksgiving except for some Canadian’s and international people. So I’ve done two calls the entire day and don’t have one until 2pm (that I have everyday and it only lasts 5 minutes). I’m working tomorrow and there are only 5 calls for the whole day, pretty funny. Glad I’m taking Friday off though. Too much boredom for one week.
None of my work friends are online cuz they all took off a half day today and my friend from one of my conferences is too busy to email. Sheesh people! I need some entertainment here…
Anyways, Thanksgiving dinner at my parents tonight, Adam’s dads’ tomorrow and Adam’s moms’ on Friday. I’m not gonna be able to fit through the door at work on Monday, haha.
Since investor relations season is over until the 22nd of January I’ll prolly be updating this thing more, not that there is much to tell anyways!

What’s worse, her iPod died. It’s all here.
