PRSA announces investor relations awards
By Dominic Jones
IT PROBABLY has something to do with the fact that it’s the Public Relations Society of America’s (PRSA) gig, but most in the investor relations profession — including me — missed the announcement of the Silver Anvil Awards this week.
That’s a shame because among the winners for everything from community relations to integrated communications for associations, government or nonprofit organizations, were two awards for investor relations.
In the IR category for companies with sales up to $500 million, Spartan Motors, Inc. (NASDAQ:SPAR) won for its 2006 IR program, which was run by Lambert, Edwards & Associates, Inc. (LE&A), a PR and IR firm based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. According to a news release by LE&A, the program resulted in a 500% increase in daily trading volume and a 140% jump in the firm’s share price during 2006.
In the IR category for companies with sales of more than $500 million, Switzerland-based pharmaceuticals giant Novartis AG (NYSE: NVS) was the winner for a PR program supported by Ruder Finn, Inc. called “Getting down to Business: Novartis Raises It’s Stock Among the Business & Financial Press.”
It just dawned on me that it’s quite odd that NIRI national doesn’t do its own awards…
