Canadian IR conference blogged
By Dominic Jones
SO I was wondering this morning why investor relations conferences are the only ones that no one blogs about. No one really blogged the recent NIRI annual conference, or the IR Society shindig in London, or the DIRK conference in Germany.
That’s really very odd because if you look around you will see that almost every other kind of conference is blogged these days. The International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) annual conference is heavily blogged and podcasted. Even conferences for accountants and lawyers get blogged about.
That’s what I was thinking as I went on to Google Blog Search about an hour ago and typed in “CIRI.” I wanted see if anyone was writing about the Canadian Investor Relations Institute (CIRI) conference that is on right now in beautiful Whistler, British Columbia.
And there it was, fourth item from the top of the search results page…

zu.com’s ace reporter, Albert Jame, takes time out of his SMS schedule to tour you around the CIRI 2007 Exhibitor Hall.

Click on that and you get an embedded YouTube video offering a quick (really quick) tour of the conference exhibit hall by Albert Jame, one of the enterprising folks at Zu.com, a Canadian new media agency that has done some terrific pioneering work for their investor relations clients.
The Zu CIRI blog is a big, pleasant surprise. It contains a mix of fun and serious stuff.
There’s news about why fortune tellers are in attendance, notes from a session on shareholder communication, a post about the mobile version of the conference schedule that Zu put together, and over 100 photos from the conference via Flickr.
Great stuff guys. And it proves the point that if you want to convince, don’t just tell, show.

Hold on… bears, jet boats, mountain biking? We are still talking about investor relations aren’t we!?
Seriously, well done to Zu for putting a personable face on the world of IR.

Jonathan,
Agreed. I wasn’t able to be there, but the photo stream they’ve done is like being there.
