More weirdness from IR Magazine’s US awards

I WASN’T at the IR Magazine US Awards this week, but now I wish I had dusted off my tuxedo to make the trip.

Perhaps then I would understand why IR Magazine’s affable editor-in-chief Neil Stewart is apologizing so publicly and profusely for remarks he made about Bear Stearns in his opening speech.

In an extremely contrite apology posted on his publisher’s blog yesterday, Stewart says his comments were “ill-considered” and “rude” and he is sorry, especially to the individual representing Bear at the event.

But then he writes: “Sorry to everyone else whose celebration was marred. I wanted you to have nothing but a fantastic time honoring the best in IR and I deeply regret that you didn’t.”

Whoa! Whatever he said, it must have been bad to ruin everyone’s evening. Anyone know what he said?
