IR Magazine Nordic Awards announced

By Dominic Jones on June 20, 2008

DENMARK’S Danske Bank this week swept the IR Magazine Nordic Awards in Copenhagen — winning three of the top regional titles, including the Grand prix for best overall investor relations and best use of technology.

The bank’s head of investor relations Martin Gottlob was voted the Nordic Region’s best investor relations officer by the 180 analysts [...]

How to fix e-proxy

By Dominic Jones on April 4, 2008

A WEEK ago, I called the US Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) notice-and-access process for delivering annual meeting materials on the web “one gigantic flop from an investor protection perspective.”
I think it’s worth beating that drum a little louder in light of the latest statistics from Broadridge Financial Solutions showing a sharp drop in retail [...]

Is there a disclosure issue here?

By Dominic Jones on April 4, 2008

TAKE a look at these news releases put out this week by two New York Stock Exchange-listed companies about awards they’ve received for their investor relations websites and their disclosure practices.
The first is from Gol Linhas Aereas Inteligents SA, the airline firm listed on the NYSE under the symbol GOL.

More on PF Chang's strange website award

By Dominic Jones on April 2, 2008

I HAVE never fully understood why analysts and portfolio managers vote for the sites that win the best IR website category in IR Magazine’s US Awards.
I’m not suggesting there is anything wrong with IR Magazine’s process. They survey a large number of people and the results are what they are.
What has puzzled me for years [...]

More weirdness from IR Magazine's US awards

By Dominic Jones on March 29, 2008

I WASN’T at the IR Magazine US Awards this week, but now I wish I had dusted off my tuxedo to make the trip.
Perhaps then I would understand why IR Magazine’s affable editor-in-chief Neil Stewart is apologizing so publicly and profusely for remarks he made about Bear Stearns in his opening speech.
In an extremely contrite [...]

I don't get IR Magazine's US web award winner

By Dominic Jones on March 28, 2008

THIS is an open invitation to the 2,600 buy-side analysts, sell-side analysts and portfolio managers who, according to the IR Magazine US Awards, selected PF Chang’s China Bistro as having the best investor relations website for small- to mid-cap companies.
I don’t get it. What is it about the site that makes it good? As far [...]

NIRI members' discontent posted on Web

By Dominic Jones on March 4, 2008

ABOUT eight months ago, I let my membership of the National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI) expire. I wasn’t happy with the direction of the organization, and I felt that being a member would restrict me from speaking my mind about it on this blog if I wanted to.
Since then, however, I’ve kept my mouth mostly [...]

Canadian IR websites underutilized, study finds

By Dominic Jones on February 29, 2008

CANADIAN investor relations departments are failing to take advantage of web technology to communicate essential information and provide services to their investors, a study commissioned by the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA) has found.
As part of a broader review of corporate reporting, a study group comprised of accounting and investor relations experts evaluated 113 [...]

Real IR magazine, R.I.P

By Dominic Jones on February 7, 2008

AND then there was one. Last month, Real IR magazine ceased publishing after less than four years as Europe’s magazine for investor relations professionals.
The bright, high-quality publication launched by UK-based Caspian Publishing brought healthy competition to a market that has long been dominated by Cross Border Group’s IR Magazine.

In a letter to subscribers last [...]

By Dominic Jones on December 7, 2007

THE Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants has awarded its Award of Excellence for Electronic Disclosure to oil and gas company Nexen Inc.Runner up in the annual awards for electronic disclosure, which I recently rated as among the most reliable of such awards programs, was past three-in-row winner PotashCorp, the international fertilizer company.
