About IR Web Report
Unbiased, research-based advice and intelligence for web-based investor communications
IR Web Report was created in 2001
to publish research and information about online investor relations practices around
the world and to advise public companies on best practices.
Since that time, we have counseled some of the world's
biggest and best-known corporations across every sector
and in more than a dozen different countries.

Today, IR Web Report is internationally recognized
as the world's #1 source for advice about online investor
relations communications. It is home to
the longest-running continuous survey of global IR website
practices covering more than 500 industry leading companies. Our consultants each have more than 15 years of experience and are former journalists, corporate communicators and advocates for individual investors. They provide public companies
with research-based, unbiased advice unconnected to
the site building and management process.
Our
unique pro-investor philosophy
Many corporate investor relations websites today are poorly conceived
and managed. This hinders investors and others from
obtaining, using and understanding public company disclosures
on the Web.
IR Web Report was founded on the belief that investors have a right to receive information from public companies in a form that meets their needs. The Web also provides the ability to level the playing field between investors' access to management. And it can help to empower individuals to be active participants in the capital markets and to take charge of their financial futures.
For this reason, the advice and guidelines we provide advocate
a steadfastly investor-centric approach to online
investor relations communications and disclosure. Corporate investor relations websites must work for their end-users
or they will fail to be effective.
There is a compelling tradeoff for corporations to use
the Web effectively in their communications with investors.
By harnessing the Web more effectively, companies can:
- Strengthen their reputations;
- Lower their IR communications costs;
- Reach investors in new markets;
- Improve investor understanding of their potential;
- Achieve a more accurate valuation for their securities;
and,
- Contribute to a fair and vibrant capital market.
Through articles, rankings, reviews and guidelines,
IR Web Report draws attention to the need for public
companies to improve their Web-based communications.
Our aim in doing so is to create a win-win result for
public companies and their investors.
100%
independent of IR website vendors
We operate independently of the site development process.
We are the only online investor relations evaluation
and consulting firm that is funded entirely by its research
and advisory services.
A service of

Since we are independent of all website development,
hosting, content or financial communication firms, we
have no vested interests in recommending specific practices
or technologies. Our independence also gives us freedom
to recommend the best services for your company from
a full array of suppliers.
Our sole focus is on providing our clients with unbiased,
action-oriented advice in benchmarking reviews and through
our unique online continuous benchmarking service. We
also publish in-depth reports on particular aspects
of online investor relations communications.
Central to this work is our benchmarking survey and
research program. Throughout the year, we conduct in-depth
evaluations of more than 500 international large-cap
companies' investor relations websites. This research
is used to benchmark our clients' IR websites and to
provide them with practical recommendations, ideas and
examples for their own websites. We also monitor a wide
range of third-party research by academics, industry
bodies, regulators and consultants.
Although based in Canada, we have from day one adopted
an international focus. This is simply because
the Internet is a global medium and so increasingly
are today's capital markets. Experience has also taught
us that no one country has a lock on best practices
when it comes to the Web. Our international outlook
is particularly attractive to companies with operations
and stock market listings in multiple countries.
Online IR pioneers
Over the past several years, IR Web Report's guidelines
and recommendations have informed the criteria for a
number of industry awards and rankings programs. For
example, our guidelines are cited by the UK IR Society's
IR Best Practice Awards and have been used by the
Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants' Corporate
Reporting Awards.
Our principals, who are former journalists and advocates for individual investors, have presented at a variety of industry
events, including several seminars for the National
Investor Relations Institute in the United States
and for the Canadian Investor Relations Institute.
They have also written articles or been quoted by investor
relations publications such as IR Magazine, Real
IR, NIRI's IR Update and CFO Magazine.
