NOT long ago, you would easily be
forgiven for thinking that public company directors
were some of the corporate world's shiest folks. They
rarely showed their faces in public, and very little
information was ever published about them.

34% of companies in our study provided bios

Today, of course, directors are center-stage as investors,
the media, and regulators put corporate governance practices
under a microscope. As a result, directors' pages are
becoming richer in information and you are more likely
to find photographs of directors than ever in the past.
That said, most companies provide insufficient detail
in director biographies or make common formatting mistakes
that force investors to work too hard to get the information
they need.
In fact, many sites still provide no director information
at all. In our recent study
of online corporate governance disclosure, we found
that only 34% of companies provided biographies for
their directors.
