Facilitating reference users
Most sites are designed as reference sources for documents
traditionally delivered on paper, so investor relations
websites typically cater more to this motivation than
the others do. However, complex sites need to make it
easier for reference users find what they looking for.
People with a reference motivation use your website
as their online filing cabinet. Convenience and
speed are the primary reasons for using your site. They
know what they want and simply want to get it as quickly
as possible. Think of an analyst wanting to consult
a note to the financial statements in your most recent
quarter, or a financial journalist on deadline checking
the spelling of the lead director's name. The Holy Grail
for these users is when they get what they want with
the minimum of fuss.
